Foreword and Contents

Hello Dear Friends; Welcome to my blog. Thanx for the happy visit!
Linux is a computer operating system which is based on free and open source software. Although many different varieties of Linux exist, all are Unix-like and based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released October 5, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux runs on a wide variety of computer hardware, ranging from mobile phones, tablet computers, routers, televisions and video game consoles, to desktop computers, mainframes and supercomputers. Linux is THE leading server operating system, and runs the 10 fastest supercomputers in the world. The development of Linux is one of the most prominent examples of free and open source software collaboration; typically all the underlying source code can be used, freely modified, and redistributed, both commercially and non-commercially, by anyone under licenses such as the GNU General Public License. VMware ESX is an enterprise-level computer virtualization product offered by VMware, Inc. ESX is a component of VMware's larger offering, VMware Infrastructure, and adds management and reliability services to the core server product. The original ESX is being replaced by ESXi. VMware ESX and VMware ESXi are bare-metal embedded hypervisors that are VMware's enterprise software hypervisors for servers that run directly on server hardware without requiring an additional underlying operating system. The basic server requires some form of persistent storage (typically an array of hard disk drives) for storing the hypervisor and support files. A smaller footprint variant, ESXi, does away with the first requirement by permitting placement of the hypervisor onto a dedicated compact storage device. Both variants support the services offered by VMware Infrastructure. Remember : This is Proprietary.

CentOS is a free operating system based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). It exists to provide a free enterprise class computing platform and strives to maintain 100% binary compatibility with its upstream distribution. Download OPEN SUSE

Open SUSE is a general purpose operating system built on top of the Linux kernel, developed by the community-supported openSUSE Project and sponsored by SUSE. After Novell acquired SUSE Linux in January 2004, Novell decided to release the SUSE Linux Professional product as a 100% open source project.

Bharat Operating System Solutions (BOSS) is a free and open source computer operating system developed by the National Resource Centre for Free/Open Source Software (NRCFOSS) of India. This software is also known by the acronym BOSS GNU/Linux or simply BOSS Linux. The latest version of this operating system, BOSS GNU/Linux Version 4.0, was released in February 2011. This software package has been described as "India's own PC operating system" the most meaningful product to come out of the Indian software industry in decades — and a work that a government department had done.. This is however hollow posturing because the operating system is based on Linux and Free and Open Source Software, which is produced by thousands of developers worldwide.
The software has also been endorsed by the Government of India for adoption and implementation on a national scale. BOSS GNU/Linux is an "LSB certified" Linux distribution: the software has been certified by the Linux Foundation for compliance with the Linux Standard Base standard. BOSS GNU/Linux is derived from Debian. Debian uses the Linux kernel (the core of an operating system), but most of the basic operating system tools in Debian come from the GNU Project; hence the appendages GNU/Linux to Debian and BOSS. The product is free software in the sense in which the term is used by the Free Software Foundation, and it is distributed under the GNU General Public License. The latest desktop version of BOSS GNU/Linux is fully localised to eighteen Indian languages.

Tiny Core Linux (TCL) is a minimal Linux operating system focusing on providing a base system using BusyBox and FLTK. The lead developer of the project is Robert Shingledecker. The distribution is notable for its size under 12MB, with additional functionality provided by extensions of which there are more than 3200. Tiny Core Linux is Free open source software and is licensed under the GNU General Public License v2. Micro Core Linux is a smaller variant of Tiny Core without a graphical desktop.

Slackware is a free and open source Linux-based operating system. It was one of the earliest operating systems to be built on top of the Linux kernel and is the oldest currently being maintained. Slackware was created by Patrick Volkerding of Slackware Linux, Inc. in 1993. The current stable version is 13.37, released on April 27, 2011. Slackware aims for design stability and simplicity, and to be the most "Unix-like" Linux distribution, making as few modifications as possible to software packages from upstream and using plain text files and a small set of shell scripts for configuration and administration.

Mandriva S.A. is a publicly traded (symbol:MLMAN) Linux and open source software company with its headquarters in Paris, France and development center in Curitiba, Brazil. Mandriva, S.A. is the creator and maintainer of Mandriva Linux, describing itself as a "project initiator and a skills organizer in the Open Source arena", and a founding member of the Desktop Linux Consortium.
